To simply put it straight forward; Favicon is simply an icon. However it is not just an icon; but a very important element associated with a particular website.

It is usually shown at the address bar of a browser accessing the site or in some other cases; next to a site name in a user’s list of bookmarks.

How To Add Favicon To WordPress Website?

If you are just setting up your WordPress Website or you already have but no Favicon yet on your site; here’s how to Add Favicon to your WordPress Website

  • Login to your WordPress Admin Dashboard
  • Go to Appearance >> Customize >> Site Identity>> Site Icon
  • Upload your Favicon icon and click on Publish.
  • NOTE – Your icon must be square and at least 512 x 512 in dimension

 

Favicon Not Working On My WordPress Site?

The first time i notice such error was from a client website in which the Favicon icon was showing blank on the tab icon.

I initially thought perhaps a Favicon icon had not been added to the website but when i login to the back end of the site; i discovered the case is not such.

I followed the steps mentioned earlier on this article about how to add Favicon to WordPress site but the Favicon refuses to show yet. In the end; i was able to find a lasting solution which is why i thought of sharing it here also.

Hence if you’ve tried several methods to add Favicon to your site and Favicon did not update; simply try the below method.

Fix Favicon Not Showing On WordPress Website

If you’ve already add the Favicon Icon to your site and Favicon not updating; then perhaps something might be wrong. However you need not to worry as below is a permanent solution.
