Earlier in my previous post for those who wanted to migrate from blogger to wordpress, i mentioned the fact that Wordpress and Blogger are the most preffered user's choice of blogging platform. Despite this fact some Users especially Newbie who are on Wordpress still finds the platform frustrating in which some do pack their loads and come back to Blogger or move to another blogging platform.

These made me to poke my nose into Researching;) on why this happens and how it can be reversed and below are lists of what i've gathered so far.
Whether you're a professional, an enthusiast or a Newbie, the below list is going to enlighten you more about Wordpress Pros & Cons and what todo about them.
Wordpress Pros.
*. Controlling Your Site: Being on Self-Hosted Wordpress blog allows you to have control over your site though your host technically controls it. In other case, Google have a share in controlling a blogger blog.
*. The Comment system: One thing i liked the most about wordpress is its comment system. To be candid, its easier for user to comment on a wordpress blog than on a blogger blog.

The Cons(For Newbie)
*. Takes time to learn: This is where most newbie user fails. You can't just wake up a day and open a wordpress blog, you have to learn its basics and how it works. Though a blogger blog also requires a technical how-to but self-hosted wordpress is much more advanced.
*. Needs a lot of your Attention: The one fact you need to know is that self-hosted wordpress really needs much of your attention and if you aren't ready to spare, do not bother to venture into it. From backing up your blog, updating plugings, deleting spammy comments, keeping your site free from malicious infection and more..

The Cons(For both Professional and Newbie).
*. High chance of getting Expensive: A friend might told you that with few currencies, you can start a wordpress blog; yeah its true but the downside of it is you should also be ready because it might get expensive. I've seen cases of self-hosted wordpress blog in which the host tells the user to pay more probably because of traffic or some updated plugins, and if you're not willing to do it, the blog might goes down.
*. Hackers hacking: In terms of security, you have to be more alert. Even sometimes professionals are not left out on this.
*. Hosting Issue: Earlier i mentioned that though you control your blog, your host technically controls it. Host server might go down which is going to greatly affect a self-hosted wordpress site.

From The Author's Desk: This Post isn't meant to discourage you from using Wordpress as wp is a great blogging platform to use but if you wanted to stay on or migrate to Wordpress. You have to learn about its pros and cons which i mentioned above so you could know what todo. Additionally its advisable to have an up-to-date backup, take time to learn and be cautious of the hosting provider you use.

Mazino, i agree with your point also in terms of hacking though i believe there are still preventive ways but i prefer being on blogger platform as at now.

  6. Nice and simple post Tunde. I for one don't support the cons of blogger stated regarding google sharing control over your blog as a comparative to your pro of wordpress. See you said it yourself, the host can take down your wordpress blog. So you don't still own it. Even google can still shut it down for copied content. Yes, wordpress commenting system is superb.

  7. I actually admit the fact that Wp comment system is great but that of blogger's own can also be twisted to suit readers like installing facebook comment box.
Thanks @don Martin for the comment. Do feel free to visit other post related to blogging too.
